Acrylic paint is a man-made, water-soluble paint containing pigment suspension in acrylic polymer emulsion. Even though they are water-soluble, acrylics become water-resistant after they have dried.

Alcohol Ink is a painting technique using an alcohol based ink and isopropyl alcohol. The substrate or paper is a nonporous with a slick surface. After the ink and alcohol mix, you move the colors with either a hairdryer, air gun or by tilting. I have also used it with a brush as though it were watercolor. These techniques are very rewarding and can lead to some wonderful designs and paintings.

Watercolor is a water-based painting compound that can be either transparent or opaque. The pigment is suspended in a binder, generally natural gum arabic. It is a moist paint that comes in a tube, thinned using water, and mixed on a dish or palette.

Pastel painting or pastel drawing starts with an implement of pigment mixed with chalk or clay and combined with gum to make a paste that is then hardened and made available as soft or hard pastels, pastel pencils, or oil pastels.

Style

Abstract art is non-objective, non-representational art that does not seek to replicate objects from real life.
